Diabetes & Metabolism Clinic

The Diabetes and Metabolism Clinic at Northwest Regional offers a three-way approach to the treatment of diabetes (1)Diet (2)Education and (3)Medication Management. Patients are accepted by physician referral only. The center is a collaboration between Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS.

The Diabetes and Metabolism Clinic was awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education program.

The Clinic has also received a nationally competitive award from the National Library of Medicine to establish a community health education center for the enrichment of the citizens of Coahoma county and surrounding service area. Free services will include a librarian, computer access to health education; brochures and pamphlets on various health conditions and a quiet, pleasant learning environment.

Dr. Andrea Smith is Medical Director for the Clinic. The staff includes: Diann York, RN, Nurse Educator, George Murphy, FNP, Rebecca Murphy, FNP, Leigh Pickard, Registered Dietitian, Josette Nelson, Pharmacist and Diane West, Office Manager.
